What I'm learning right now...

Today I wanted to share what I’m learning right now!
Currently, I’m participating in a variety of online workshops where I’m learning not only from the instructors but also from other participants! By the way, these workshops are FREE or inexpensive to join!
art workshop
I’ve loved the process of printmaking for a long time – even minored in it in college – but am still learning lots of fun techniques that are new to me in Traci Bautista’s Bold, Expressive, and Unconventional Printmaking. In this FREE online workshop, Traci shares her favorite printmaking tools and demonstrates techniques for creating patterns, masks, acrylic skins and deconstructed layers with monoprints.

In Cover Story, Lorraine Belle, Sandi Keene, Rae Missigman and Roben-Marie Smith share 4+ hours of step-by-step video instruction on how to collage, doodle, grunge, Gelli plate, sketch, and paint your art journal covers! These techniques can also be used on the journal pages themselves. I’m choosing my favorite techniques from each instructor and combining them to embellish my own art journal covers.

In Art Journal Delight, Alisa Burke shares some of her favorite ways to fill her art journals. She provides LOTS of short, bite-size videos filled with demos in her own art journals. Her processes of layering and mark making are super-inspiring!

And of course there’s The Original Documented Life Project™ The Journal which is FREE and ongoing until the end of 2015. DLP provides 52 prompts – one each week – to fill a blank art journal! Themes so far have included: doodles and mark making, building layers, facing the blank page, and color. It’s been a wonderful experience for me – fun, inspiring and motivating! And I’ve learned a lot of new techniques to incorporate into my art journal, too!

And I am SO STOKED about Mary Beth Shaw hosting Seth Apter in her studio soon! This art journal and painting class is limited to EIGHT participants! And we don’t need to bring a thing! All the supplies are being provided: Golden paints, Gelli plates, papers, brushes, scissors, stencils, etc.! Yippee!!!

Have a great week!

Wow - I jealous of you taking all these amazing classes! They all look like fun, but I would especially love to take Traci Bautists's printmaking class.
