Last night, I overcame another fear. I figured I'd already started blogging; why not take another leap into the 21st-century and all its technology has to offer to artists. I opened a store on Etsy last night. Another artist friend had suggested this opportunity to me about a year ago, but it seemed intimidating, too.

Last night, I overcame another fear. I figured I'd already started blogging; why not take another leap into the 21st-century and all its technology has to offer to artists. I opened a store on Etsy last night. Another artist friend had suggested this opportunity to me about a year ago, but it seemed intimidating, too.
What is it that moves you from making a goal to taking action towards reaching that goal?
On this particular occasion for me, it was momentum.
I am actually still recovering from a bout with pneumonia, which would seem to have nothing to do with gaining momentum. But hear me out...
Being a very active person, it was unusual for me to be stranded on the couch for what seemed like weeks. I was even too tired to collage in my studio. I'm usually a pretty positive person, so I made the choice to make the most of my "resting" time and teach myself some technology. I created a Facebook page for my art work (it took me four days to do this -- it's a good thing I had pneumonia). I also worked on LinkedIn and Twitter simultaneously. One thing literally led to another...another idea, another small action. It was like the way I work on several paintings in my studio at one time. Then yesterday I started blogging, and last night...Etsy!
I find from experience that sometimes one action leads to another, or even one baby step leads to another. I've also found that travel begets travel and painting begets painting...but I'll save that for another blog.
For today, try to take one small action towards a goal.
