Welcome to Day ONE of the StencilGirl and USArtQuest Blog Hop!
USArtQuest StencilGirl
Today I'm sharing what I created for Week 18 of
The Original Documented Life Project™ The Journal!

May Theme
Touchy Feely (Texture)

Art Challenge:  Fabric
Journal Prompt:  The Fabric of Your Life

Documented Life Project
Inspired by the Fabric challenge, I knew I wanted to include Dicrofibers into my art journal pages!
Below is my step-out process:
I began by spreading pink and white acrylics onto my art journal pages. I used more pink acrylic to stencil Rae Missigman's Mix and Match Scalloped Edges stencil and mask onto Inkssentials Surfaces Sticky Backed Natural Canvas. After that dried, I cut around the shapes, peeled off the backing and adhered these onto two edges of the pages. With more pink acrylic, I stenciled a circle, rectangle, and square onto the pages using Seth Apter's Urban Outsiders stencil, I painted a light layer of white acrylic into these to journal on later.
USArtQuest StencilGirl
Next, I used Go Your Own Way Arrows mini stencil, Go Your Own Way Arrows stencil, Round Here Arrows mini stencil, and Round Here Arrows stencil to trace arrows in a variety of shapes and sizes onto underpaper. After cutting these out, I ran these through my Xyron® 150 Create-A-Sticker Machine to create my own arrow stickers to embellish my journal pages!

Then I added green acrylic...and some scribbled hand-writing about the fabric of my life.

Lastly, I used acrylics to paint Simple Stories DIY Burlap Arrows Stickers and pressed a variety of Dicrofibers with a medium-hot iron, between Dicrofiber Parchment Paper. I cut these iridescent and opalescent fiber sheets into free-form shapes and circles and adhered these to the surface of my journal pages with Great Tape. I stenciled additional arrows onto the Dicrofibers using a sponge dauber and black ink pad.
Documented Life Project
Rae Missigman's Quilled Arrow stencil and mask added to the repetition and variety of the arrows and made for another nice focal point to the pages:

Very nice Mary. Love seeing these fibers--I used a similar product ages ago and this recalls that great fun and it is inspiring to see it used in new ways. I want to revisit this medium. As someone else already mentioned, I, too, like the journaling you did inside the stencils.

Your pages are so bright and cheerful. I've never heard of the Dicrofibers until now. I definitely want to play with them now. I have a bunch of project ideas for them. You did a fabulous job of incorporating parts of all the stencils into your pages and making it all look cohesive. I also never thought to use sticky back canvas the way you did in this spread, brilliant!! See learn something new everyday. Thanks for sharing. (((HUGS))) KIMMIE
