The Stencilfied Journal: Week 3

6/18/2018

I'm back with the next #thestencilfiedjournal prompt! This new collaboration was organized by Tina Walker, Collaborations Columnist for StencilGirl® Talk! Each prompt must use StencilGirl® Products in a fun and unique way, combined with some interesting and 'out of the box' ideas. I'm using a field book for my art journal, and I love this little size!

PROMPT #3 is getting us outside and using Mother Nature on our pages!

I experienced great synchronicity again with Prompt 3! I knew I wanted to stencil on a magnolia tree leaf after seeing Art & Whimsy's stenciling on these. But it was a matter of finding a leaf small enough to fit into my field book journal. While I walked my dog past my neighbor's magnolia tree, there it was on the sidewalk! A small, field book sized magnolia leaf...in the shape of a heart!!

I have never seen anything like this in all my walks past this tree! I painted the leaf in PaperArtsy's Mermaid Fresco Acrylic Paint, then used StazOn Ink in Teal Blue and my Map Stencil to add patterning. Then I stenciled the word "Wish" onto vintage book paper using a StazOn Midi Ink Pad in Spiced Chai  and the 6" x 6" stencil from StencilClub August 2017 - Second Star to the Right & Straight on 'til Morning.

Fabulous design, Mary! Love the color contrast and your stencil patterns. The dark background looks like it frames the heart beautifully. Thank you for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Oh my, I adore the use of that lovely magnolia leaf as your substrate and the colour combination that you used! Thanks so much for joining us at A Vintage Journey for our Stencil It challenge (and I am going to have to go seek out Tina's challenge, sounds like fun!) Deb xo
