The Sky's the Limit!

I am over the moon (pun definitely intended!) to be the designer for StencilGirl Products'
EXCLUSIVE July 2015 StencilClub Stencils!! Yippee!!
I have been a proud member of StencilClub since its inception, so this truly was a dream come true!
I love maps – their lines, rhythm, movement and patterns – and find inspiration in vintage atlases I collect, fascinated by the antiquated pages and the ideas of time and travel they contain.

When I was invited to design the July StencilClub Stencils for StencilGirl Products, I knew immediately that I wanted to create something extra special exclusively for StencilClub members. So I started to think about map stencils that went above and beyond previous global stencils I'd designed – I started to think big...the SKY and the UNIVERSE!
The Sky's the Limit
The Sky's the Limit includes three stencils:
  • The 9" x 12" stencil is a map of the sky – including all 88 constellations!
  • The 6" x 6" stencil is a topographical map of the moon.
  • And the 4" x 4" stencil maps the orbits of select planets and comets.
The repetition of the circle motif makes the images cohesive as a set, yet there's variety with the lines of the constellations, the ellipses of the comets and the organic shapes and lines within the moon's topography.

Today I'm sharing what I created for Week 24 of
The Original Documented Life Project™ The Journal

with The Sky's the Limit!!

Journal Prompt:  Taking the Road Less Traveled

The Documented Life Project
Inspired by this week's journal prompt, I began with one of my favorite Albert Einstein quotes about taking the road less traveled as a jumping-off point. From there, I had a ton of fun layering several media and techniques that I'll be sharing in an exclusive video and downloadable PDF for members only on July 15th.

I had fun incorporating these new designs in my small mixed-media art journal, too, continuing with processes I'll be sharinng with members on the 15th:

Mary, I used the stencils for my June index which I published today. I obviously need some stencil instruction! I know I used too much paint, but I just couldn't get them as clean and precise as you do. Hope you will cover technique in your video. Thanks for all your advice!
