"Without my conscious knowledge,
somewhere along the line I had become committed.
I was prepare to do anything -- anything -- to keep myself painting."
~Isabel Bishop, painter
This afternoon, I packed up my paintings from my show at Jeane Vogel Studios. The space is amazing! Jeane Vogel converted this former store into both a gallery and a studio! This has always been a dream of mine, too, to own my own gallery while still pursuing my painting.

This afternoon, I packed up my paintings from my show at Jeane Vogel Studios. The space is amazing! Jeane Vogel converted this former store into both a gallery and a studio! This has always been a dream of mine, too, to own my own gallery while still pursuing my painting.
In the process of having an exhibit there, I learned a lot from Jeane and her experience as a professional artist. She shared what it has been like to own and run her own gallery, both its rewards and challenges. She talked with me about her current project, which has taken her in a new direction with her art work, too. She even showed me how to create a Facebook page, as one step in being more proactive in promoting my art.
Little did I know when I submitted images of my paintings for her review last January, that Jeane would become a new mentor to me, too. I was only hoping for a show! But I gained so much more. I met a new role model: Jeane is self-driven, organized, an incredibly talented artist and business woman, who has taken the leap to follow her dreams.
If it weren't for Jeane, I may have felt helpless, frustrated, and bored to tears having only day-time television to entertain me while sidelined by pneumonia recently. Instead, I felt empowered -- with Daphne at my feet and a netbook in my lap. Thanks, Jeane!
