Recently, Dan and I flew to the Baltic and visited 9 countries in 17 days with 1 bag each!

I’ve never heard anyone say, “I wish I had traveled heavier.”

Still, people tend to pack for the worst.
Why not pack for the best! And pick up something at your destination if you find you need it.

Dan and I even made a contest of it: whoever packed the lighter bag won!
I now have bragging rights, since mine came in lighter at a mere 10 ½ pounds!

My winning suitcase/backpack!

So, whether traveling for 5 days or 5 weeks,
this is what I pack:
1 pair good walking shoes
1 pair flip-flops
5 sets underwear and socks
2 pairs zipper pants
Vitamins/medicine
Toiletries kit
5 shirts
1 dark sweater or fleece
Swimsuit
Pajamas
Rain gear
Scarf (lightweight for dressing up any outfit)
Money belt
Day pack
Camera, battery, and battery charger
Cell phone and charger
MP3 player
Water-bottle
Earplugs
Eyeglasses/sunglasses
Sunscreen
Hat (and gloves if necessary)
Shout wipes
Small packets of laundry detergent
Wristwatch (mine has an alarm and dual timezones)

Thank you, Rick Steves and One Bag!
Both websites are extraordinary resources for traveling lightly!

Posts on inspiration in the Baltic coming your way in the near future!
Have a great beginning to your week!
Mary

Great post. Light travel is such an amazing thing. Plus, you don't have to be so early at the airport. :) And let's be honest, you can find a laundry almost anywhere...so no need to go crazy while packing.

Holy macaroni! That's impressive! My problem is that I always want to bring options, or have back-up items in case I drop food on myslf (which happens more than it probably should for an adult).

I definitely spill food on myself, too.
But I love Shout wipes. Always have a few packets of Shout wipes in my daypack while traveling and in my purse when I'm not traveling! :)

Thanks for the feedback so far.
Hope my packing list helps you if you choose to pack lightly also.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

Great list! I always travel light. I don't trust baggage check with my stuff so one carry on and my small purse is all I bring. I love your list, though--very helpful in figuring out what to bring! :)
