I love that rocks can be read like stories or maps.
And I love the sense of time that each rock records, depending on its layers or shape or colors.
This is a small rock collection I keep in the window of my studio to inspire me.
These rocks tell stories of my own travels and studies and friendships and love.
There is the large green obsidian rock from my artist residency the Big Island of Hawaii – a great reminder of its wonderful, active volcanoes. From this trip, too, is white, black, and green sand. Next to the obsidian rock, is the blue sodalite I just bought Sunday; this came from Brazil.

I have a fossil replica from my trip with my husband and our dogs to Fossil Beds National monument.
And there is spiral fossil/rock my friend was distributing at her art reception.
Also are pieced of petrified rock from my residency at Petrified Forest in Arizona.
Hope you enjoyed the sneak-peak into my studio!
