StencilGuts Blog Hop!

StencilGuts Blog Hop
Welcome to the StencilGuts Blog Hop! No guts! No glory!

I’ve been playing like crazy with these new StencilGuts in my mixed media art journals! And I must say I am
*sort of* addicted to StencilGuts now!

Today I’m sharing four journal spreads with my three favorite techniques for using StencilGuts:
1. Using StencilGuts on my mini Gelli plates (especially the mini round plate)
2. Painting the StencilGuts themselves and using them as ephemera!
They’re so thin and light that I just use my UHU glue stick to adhere painted StencilGuts to the page.
3. Using StencilGuts as mini-masks – especially on textured backgrounds.

In this spread below, I incorporated all three of these techniques with the various sized X’s I received from Terri Stegmiller’s X-12 stencil and Michelle Ward's X Rows.

On this next page, I created layers of color and texture and splatter for the background, added some scribble journaling, then painted the StencilGut from Jessica Sporn’s October 2013 StencilClub stencil. Once the paint dried, I glued the StencilGut directly onto the page! Then I stenciled It’s A Small World Latitude onto underpaper, cut it out, and glued this under the figure. She’s on top of the world…literally!

The next page includes StencilGuts from Carolyn Dube’s Vintage Typewriter Stencil. This page consists of black and white acrylic along with Hero Arts Neon Pink ink – I applied the pink ink from the pad to the page with a jumbo sponge dauber. Then I glued the pink ink-covered X and Y StencilGuts onto the bottom portion of the page. (You’ll see the Z in the next spread!)

In this last journal spread, I used the uppercase X, Y, and Z as mini masks in my black cardstock Dylusions journal. I also used my mini round Gelli plate again, Carolyn Dube’s Vintage Typewriter stencil for the lowercase x, y, and z. I painted the uppercase Z StencilGut white and glued it onto the page. I added black and white ink pen for accents.

I also used my mini square and rectangle Gelli printing plates. I painted the lowercase m and n StencilGuts with white acrylic and glued them on the page, too!
