StencilGirl Walnut Hollow Serving Tray

I've been enjoying using StencilGirl stencils and Walnut Hollow products ever since I participated in the StencilGirl Walnut Hollow Blog Hop!

For my latest project, I chose to work with my map stencils designs for StencilGirl, my longitude rubber stamp from RubberMoon, Walnut Hollow’s Serving Tray and Shimmer Sheetz in Turquoise Gemstone.

I began by staining the entire wood ledge with Minwax Water-Based Wood Stain in Antique Jade.
Then I add Matisse Background Colors with a Colour Shaper and cosmetic sponge with Around the World Latitude, Around the World Longitude and large Map Stencil.

Next came acrylic paints and more stencils! I painted teal circles the same size as the circles in my Hemispheres Stencil. Then I used a mini-dauber to stencil copper acrylic through the Compass Stencil. I love that StencilGirl stencils are flexible, allowing me to use just portions of the Map Symbols Stencil all about, too!

Next...Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste please!
I lined the Hemispheres Stencil onto those two teal circles I'd painted, then applied Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste through the stencil with my palette knife.

Lastly, I used a large dauber to apply Teal Blue StazOn ink through the latitude portion of my Latitude and Longitude Stencil onto the Turquoise Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz. And I stamped my longitude stamp with Teal Blue StazOn ink onto the Turquoise Gemstone Shimmer Sheets, too. I placed the entire Shimmer Sheetz onto double sided adhesive, then cut around the round shapes of the globes. Because the adhesive is double sided, I could then peel off the backing and press the individual circles onto the surface I had painted.

And here is the finished serving tray!

Still deciding whether I want to use it to hold art supplies in my studio or use if for guests who visit.
Below is a detail of the tray:

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and happy creating!

I love this Mary! I see so many trays at the thrift store that would be perfect for this project. Thanks for the inspiration!

Decorating a tea tray is a great idea -- and your themed designs are fantastic!
