StencilGirl Walnut Hollow blog hop
Welcome to the StencilGirl Walnut Hollow Blog Hop!
We're featuring StencilGirl stencils with Walnut Hollow products!
And Mary Beth Shaw is hopping along with us!!

You're on the right track if you just arrived from my friend Linda Kittmer’s blog.
If not, no worries! You can just follow the list below and start back at the beginning.

For my project, I chose to work with Walnut Hollow’s Silhouette Bird and Birdcage Clock:
Walnut Hollow’s Silhouette Bird and Birdcage Clock
Because both items are 9” x 12” and have a bird theme, I thought they would make a sweet diptych.
I immediately thought of my mom when I saw the Birdcage Clock. Not only does she have a birdcage bookcase,
but she also had an upcoming birthday and I thought this bird diptych would make a nice gift and lovely
complement to her birdcage bookcase.

As for stenciling, I knew that Tracie Lyn Huskamp’s 6-inch Song Birds stencil and Cecilia Swatton’s 6-inch Feathers stencil would be perfect with these surfaces!
Tracie Lyn Huskamp’s 6-inch Song Birds stencil and Cecilia Swatton’s 6-inch Feathers stencil
I started by applying gesso to both pieces.
After that dried. I painted both pieces yellow (my mom’s favorite color).

Next came the stenciling! First I applied teal using an ink sweeper and acrylic paint…

And lastly some red acrylic paint and gold clock hands…

It was a lot of fun painting on new surfaces, and my mom really likes her one-of-a-kind gift!
