StencilGirl & PaperArtsy Blog Hop!

Welcome to the StencilGirl & PaperArtsy Blog Hop!
StencilGirl PaperArtsy Blog Hop
It's an absolute delight to be part of this hop combining products from two of my favorite companies:
StencilGirl Products and PaperArtsy! Though small companies, their products pack a lot of punch!
I never wanted this art journal spread to end as I was having so much fun layering
StencilGirl Stencils with Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics, Grunge Paste and rubber stamps!

This spread is 12" x 18" in my large Dylusions journal.
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
I began this process by scraping some of my favorite PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics –
Inky Pool, Mermaid, Caribbean Sea, and Captain Peacock – across the pages with a plastic card!
Picture
Then I added marks by combining Seth Apter's Eclectica³ ESA02 rubber stamps
with
Snowflake, South Pacific, and StazOn in Blue Hawaii and Midnight Blue.
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
Next, I applied PaperArtsy Grunge Paste with a palette knife through my Around the World Latitude stencil.
Leaving the stencil on, I spritzed Seth's rubber stamps with water and pressed these into the wet Grunge Paste.
Then I removed the stencil and allowed the paste to dry.
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
Then I added some drops of Caribbean Sea to Grunge Paste, mixed thoroughly with my palette knife,
and applyed this tinted mixture through It's a Small World Longitude, It's a Small World Latitude,
and Urban Insiders Star. I pounced Snowflake through Urban Outsiders to create text boxes, too.
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
I applied watered down Inky Pool on the large globe, let dry,
then sanded with my Art-C Groove Tool to reveal the textures of the stamped Grunge Paste!
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
I added more layers of PaperArtsy paint to the dried Grunge Paste, and filled in the Urban Outsiders shapes with Snowflake. After these paint layers dried, I used Seth's rubber stamps again, this time with a black ink pad,
to add additional marks and contrast to the surface. I also added outlines and scribble writing with black pens.
Mary C. Nasser, Mixed Media Art Journal
Below is a photo of the finished spread...
