StencilGirl Lost Coast Designs
Welcome to the StencilGirl Lost Coast Designs Blog Hop!
We're featuring StencilGirl stencils with Lost Coast Designs rubber stamps!
And Mary Beth Shaw is hopping along with us!!

You're on the right track if you just arrived from Mary Beth Shaw's blog.
If not, no worries! You can just follow the list below and start back at the beginning.

I love maps! So for my project, I chose to work with Lost Coast Designs' ATC North America rubber stamp, Angel on the World rubber stamp and ATC Europe rubber stamp.
Lost Coast Designs
And I chose to work with Michelle Ward's Circle Rays 6 stencil.
I knew it would be great around the angel's trumpet!
Circle Ray StencilGirl stencil
One of my favorite things about StencilGirl stencils is their transparent quality, allowing me to see exactly where I'd like to use a stencil (or stencils!) in my art.

I began by arranging my rubber stamps and stencil on a sheet of Bristol board, creating a fun, dynamic composition.
stencils and rubber stamps
I used the rubber stamps and Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink to stamp the maps and angel onto the Bristol board. Then, I used Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape for delicate surfaces to tape my stencil into place. I masked off areas of the stencil with post-it notes to avoid stenciling over the angel image.
stencils and rubber stamps
Using a cosmetic sponge, I pounced ink through the stencil from the Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink pad.
By using the same ink to stencil as I did to stamp, I hoped to integrate the stencil with the stamps and unify the composition.
stencils and rubber stamps
This is such a clean technique for stenciling and very fun to do, too!
stencils and rubber stamps
Lastly, I measured and penciled in diagonal lines parallel to the top and bottom of the stencil.
Inspired by calligrams, I filled in the background by writing with a black Micron pen.
I journaled in some of my favorite places I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to throughout the years.
stencils and rubber stamps
I really like the way the writing adds a ground to the images and frames the images, too.

Mary, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!! Journaling with the places you've travelled to was the perfect addition. Love how you used the Circle Rays stencil to portray the sound from the trumpet. I MUST own that Angel on The World stamp. My style is vintage and she would be a great addition to my stamp stash.
