StencilGirl & Lesley Riley TAP Transfer Artist Paper Blog Hop Day
Welcome to Day TWO of the StencilGirl and Lesley Riley TAP Transfer Artist Paper Blog Hop!

For today’s hop, I wanted to work with Tangie Baxter’s set of Cartography Global Stamps. And I wanted to work on fabric. I’m not a fibers artist, so I chose to work on canvas – because it’s familiar to me as a painter. I purchased a canvas pouch from the local craft store. I love the color of this natural canvas because it resembles the unbleached titanium paint that’s so frequently a part of my palette!

First, on my laptop, using just Microsoft Word, I inserted the three stamp images I wanted to incorporate into this project. I enlarged the images, then reversed the images, then printed them out onto my TAP paper.

I trimmed the excess paper away from the images while I had my iron heating up to its highest setting. I placed the images face down onto the canvas – the transparency of the TAP paper makes this a cinch – then ironed straight down onto the images. I love that you cannot over-iron the TAP paper! In fact, my TAP paper slid right off once the images had transferred.

Next, I used Carolyn Dube’s Now Is The Time small, Now Is The Time large, and Uplifting Words stencils and a mini sponge dauber to add lettering in two more of my favorite colors – cobalt teal and cobalt turquoise. I chose inspiring words that complemented the images of the maps/globes I had transferred. I used Post-it notes on the stencils to mask off words before pouncing paint through. Again, the transparency of the stencils made it really easy to lay out the lettering.

Lastly, I removed the lobster clasp and strap and am going to use this as a pencil case to carry my art supplies!

And of course, I designed the back, too!
I’m really looking forward to using TAP paper again!

What a wonderful use of TAP, Mary. I love putting it on canvas and practical things too. Sometimes I get so caught up in the art side of it that I forget to make wonderful things like this pouch and t-shirts, etc. Thanks so much for playing with TAP.

Mary, nice work. But when I asked if I could scan in an image of a stencil and manipulate it, I was told that I couldn't as it violates the copyright. I saved the email unless it was a FB post.

So if you did this, can I?

Hi, Tommy.

I referred to Tangie Baxter Designs Personal & Limited Professional Use License for permitted and prohibited uses as well as credit requirements. I also emailed Tangie before beginning this project. Hope that helps. :)
