StencilGirl Blog Hop!

11/21/2013

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Friday Favorite to bring you another StencilGirl blog hop!

For this November blog hop, we’re focusing on gratitude and showcasing Terri Stegmiller’s stencils.
And Terri is hopping along with us!

You're on the right track if you just arrived from Leslie Tucker Jenison’s blog. If not, no worries!
You can just follow the list below and start back at the beginning.

I chose to work with Terri’s Floral Swirl stencil to create a thank you card.

Inspired by a project Mary Beth Shaw shares in her new book Stencil Girl, I was inspired to work on gold scratch-art foil drawing paper. Using artist tape, I taped the stencil and the scratch-art to the back of my sketchbook.

Using a wood drawing stylus, I scratched the paper in the open areas to reveal the gold.

I used a second stencil – StencilGirl's Midcentury Modern Elements #1 stencil – to add additional patterns into some of the larger open areas to add even more variety.

It wasn’t until I was completely finished scratching that I removed the artist tape and stencil.
I used a tissue to gently wipe away excess bits of the top coat that I’d scratched off, too.

I trimmed my work, applied glue stick to the back, and mounted my scratch-art to a piece of 6” x 12”
Canson Mi-Teintes I’d folded in half.

Lastly, I made a matching envelope with my envelope punch board.
