Welcome to the StencilGirl Blog Hop featuring BRAND NEW releases from Seth Apter!

For this blog hop, StencilGirl Creative Team members are showcasing Seth Apter’s THREE new stencils!
And Seth Apter and Mary Beth Shaw are hopping along with us!! Yay!

You're on the right track if you just arrived from Mary Beth Shaw's blog.
If not, no worries! You can just follow the list below and start back at the beginning.
Seth Apter StencilGirl
When I received Seth Apter's Timeless stencil to play with, I wanted to do something totally different that what I usually do! I thought it'd be cool to embellish a black canvas messenger bag to hold my sketchbook and notebook. And I knew metallic colors would pop on the black background...it's no secret I already have a plethora of metallic acrylics in the studio!
Mary C. Nasser Seth Apter StencilGirl Blog Hop
I got my black canvas messenger bag here and used acrylic paints, a sponge dauber, ink sweeper and cosmetic sponges I already had in my studio. I began by adding color randomly to parts of the stencil:

Acrylic paint dries quickly, especially when applied lightly, allowing me to move/rotate the stencil and pounce in additional colors to parts. Post-it notes helped mask off areas of the stencil:

Painter's tape helped mask off other areas of the stencil, too:

This was a fun, easy process with results I really like!
Ta-da!
Mary C. Nasser Seth Apter StencilGirl Blog Hop
How cool is it to have a one-of-a-kind messenger bag designed with Seth Apter's stencil!
Hope I've inspired you to try something totally different with your stencils, too!

These stencils are so gorgeous that I would just use a piece of dark beige watercolor paper, lay the stencil down & color with acrylic paints on a Gelli Plate. Once dry, I would then use a micron black ink pen to outline & highlight the parts of the stencil that I want to stand out (probably the words). I would then frame the pieces, probably using a black mat. Gorgeous!
