When one of my collectors contacted me to create a painting for her birthday, I was both honored and delighted!
It’s always such a wonderful feeling when others connect with my work.
She wrote: I have marked most of my major birthdays something memorable. Life is a journey and this birthday will mark the beginning of a new path. What better why to celebrate than one of your paintings!
Below is the finished work. It is entitled Discovery.

This painting layers maps, vintage book pages, a page from an Old Farmer's Almanac, graphite, Wendy Vecchi embossing paste, metal ephemera, and acrylic paint along with my stencils from StencilGirl Products, Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch's String stencil, and Seth Apter's Text and Texture Discovery stencil on a 12" x 16" stretched canvas. This patron also requested I incorporate pink with this limited palette, because she enjoys the pinks in my art journal pages. Her birthday was in October, so there are several references to that month. Because she told me she was a Libra, I also incorporated sky maps of that constellation to celebrate her birthday, too. Now that my new stencils have been released at StencilGirl Products, I can share images of this painting!
