My new painting this week is entitled Sea.

This painting layers a Hawaiian map, ink drawing, vintage text, green olivine and olivine sand (purchased on the Big Island), acrylic media and acrylic on a small stretched canvas.

Comments please!
Happy Mid-Week!

I like the blues and greens of this. I came back to look a couple of times. Nice work!

Very nice textures. I really like the idea of using maps in artwork. This reminds me a bit of a job I had ages ago for a GeoSciences company that worked on water table issues in Florida.

Super cute dog you have, too. ;) Also, the Art Blog Hop is a really great idea and I have linked to it. :D

Mary, this is an amazing piece. My first observation was it's like the skeletal part of sea, where it has the sea floor, rocks, salt and so forth.. Love the things you have used to create this.. and I am very much curious how you did those. Never heard of those things you used except for the acrylic. Great job!

Hi Mary! I love the sea, and your artwork is so beautiful! Love the sand from Hawaii, that's cool! I stood on a Maui beach with the sand between my toes and married the man of my dreams!
