New Work Wednesday: Rift

2/22/2012

My new painting this week is entitled Rift.
Rift by Mary C. Nasser
This painting layers little bits of Hawaiian maps, mica, metallic tape, acrylic media and paint on a small stretched canvas. I really enjoyed working with a grid again on this small surface.

I remain fascinated and inspired by the idea that geological shifts and transformations take place constantly – even if ever-so-slowly – and that landscapes are continually changing. Even the rifts that form cracks and breaks result in shifting and developing, too.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!
Mary^

How cool! I've always found geological shifts interesting, too. It's weird to think about how different the world used to look.

Remarkable! Of course your division of the artwork...bringing together what was once not together...is what is stunning here. Art reflecting life...I love it!

Mary, your colors are fantastic as is your exciting design. These are presently my fave colors. I come to your blog each week knowing I am going to get an eye feast. You will appreciate that, I'm sure, when I tell you it takes a lot of time to manually type in my name, email, etc. since somehow the autofill does not work here. I love your work.
