In May, I received a lovely package of vintage maps from Jessica Sporn! It was so kind of her to think of me during her travels abroad! I’ve had a blast incorporating these lovely antique maps into my recent paintings.

One of my favorites that Jessica mailed was from a 1920s atlas.
The paper was wonderfully aged and brittle, and I collaged parts into this new painting entitled Orbits.

available in my Etsy shop
This painting layers maps, a vintage postage stamp, graphite, and acrylic paint with my map stencils from StencilGirl on a 9" x 12" stretched canvas.

Below are details of the work:

One question I’m sometimes asked is whether my paintings are archival. It's a valid question and the answer is yes. Because I paint with acrylics and collage with acrylic medium, the vintage maps are encased in the acrylic polymer emulsion and therefore are preserved.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
Hope you're having a wonderful, creative week!
