My new painting this week is entitled Landscapes Shifting.

This painting layers Hawaiian maps, decorative paper, typed text, metallic tape, metal ephemera and acrylic paint and media on a small stretched canvas.

I’m also thrilled to have 3 of my topographic sculptures on exhibit at The Gallery of By Design!
The exhibit is entitled Meet the Board and features art by the board members of The Women's Caucus for Art, St. Louis Chapter.

Read more about how I created these sculptures in my post here.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Mary^

Love your work. Thanks for becoming my newest blog follower.
I have had a box full of old maps for years and now and then I will paint something on top of them. Maps I got from my travels, like Ireland, I've always wanted to finish those paintings. I use watercolor pencils on them, because the paper is so fragile. Any suggestions?

Congratulations! I don't think I've seen your sculptures before. They're very interesting, just like your map paintings. Very appealing works.

This new work is gorgeous - and I have loved catching up on your posts - that blogging class sounds wonderful and I am so very sorry about the loss of your puppy. It is such a hard thing to go through, I am thinking of you! xoxo

Mary - It's so great to see you in BYW 2.0 as well. Your blog also seems to have grown leaps and bounds! I love the quote you left on my blog - weep, creep & leap! I will have to share that with my sister in the hopes of providing healing! I also added you to my circle on Etsy. Your art is wonderful!!! -kg

I am starting a self portrait in acrylics (on a canvas) that I would like to layer (sort of the reverse of you Topographic sculptures) as a painting/sculpture. I was trying to decide on materials. I was thinking foamboard for the thicker layers and perhaps a cardboard for the thinner layers. I am not at all sure of what adhesive would be best. I would appreciate any advice you might have the time to give. Thanks.
