New Work Wednesday: Explore

2/11/2015

The last two Wednesdays, I've shared the first and second of three commissions I created for a gallery manager to commemorate her recent travels to Africa. This week, I'm sharing the third!
This painting is a gift for two more of her traveling companions!

This painting layers collage, vintage maps, graphite, acrylic paint, and a porcupine quill and coins from Africa on a 9" x 12" stretched canvas. I framed this in a handmade black wooden frame, too.

I layered portions of my Map stencil along with the north symbol from Mary Beth Shaw's Private Collection 15.1 stencil, Cecilia Swatton's Feathers and Nathalie Kalbach's Elephant Parade in this piece, too.

Below are details of the work:

It's an honor and delight to work one-on-one with patrons to create special paintings.

I'd love to work with you!

She has the luckiest companions - what a treasured way to commemorate a trip- and I always have coins from travels abroad - how awesome that you've incorporated them into the composition- another home run Mary!

Mary, I LOVE what you've created and your final piece is my favorite of all (it's the elephant in the room, lol!)

I'm delighted to share these pieces at Inspire Me Monday #164 at Create With Joy. I'm sure your patron must be thrilled with her pieces!
