This painting layers maps, text, Wood Icing, acrylic paint and media, with StencilGirl stencils on an Ampersand Cradled Artist Panel. Below is a detail of the work:

This painting is a sample project I made for Mixed-Media Studio workshop: StencilGirl stencils and Wood Icing! that I'll be teaching March 16th at For Keeps Sake.

I learned from the best – Mary Beth Shaw. And as one of her StencilGirl Ambassadors, I'll be teaching others to create textures and layers with Wood Icing and StencilGirl stencils, too! If you're in the St. Louis area, come paint with us!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!
Mary^

This is wonderful Mary, and so different from what I have seen you do...although I have not been keeping up for the last three weeks. I bought the wood icing, but have not used it yet. I am sure you must have to be careful to get it off your stencils afterward, or it would be stuck for good!

I love how clear your photos are ... you show your work to its best advantage... that is an art all on its own... and the textures in this one are really great... another amazing week...xx

Have you noticed that you are evolving into land issues over water?. the first works that I've seen yours were mostly in shades of aquamarine.

Mary, your new painting is beautiful. It has the familiar colors but it seems more structured than some in the past. I really love the unusual tiles (?) in the lower right side.

The map pieces make for some really fascinating forms and wiggles. I enlarged to get the full effect. Very cool.
