This painting layers Hawaiian maps, encaustic (wax), green sand and olivine (I purchased on the Big Island of Hawaii), metal, acrylic, acrylic media, and an image of a petroglyph on a small stretched canvas.
This is my all-time favorite petryoglyph from the Big Island of Hawaii because it symbolizes a trip around the entire island, which is what I got to experience during my 2-week artist residency there!
Thank you for all the kind comments left on my October 19th blog post congratulating and wishing me well at the reception. Hope you enjoy the collages I created and posted below using photos I took Friday evening.
(Thanks, too, to Leslie Shewring of Blogging Your Way for teaching me this photo-collage technique!)
Happy Mid-Week!
