Making Art From Maps

Jill Berry has a brand-new book out entitled Making Art from Maps: Inspiration, Techniques, and an International Gallery of Artists! In each chapter, Jill shares ways to use paper maps as a medium to make a variety of projects – décor, books, journals, and boxes, fashion, collage and illustration, sculpture and installations, and interiors and lighting, too!

Jill also introduces readers "to an international array of artists using maps in astonishing ways," and I am honored to be one of them!
Making Art from Maps
I am so very grateful to Jill Berry for including the 4-foot tall sculpture I created for the Harry & Hanley Project: a public art project celebrating the 90th year of the APA of Missouri. For this sculpture, I deconstructed St. Louis area maps, cutting these maps into hundreds of small mosaic-like pieces, then rearranged and collaged these onto the surface of the sculpture.

And because I am sooo excited about being in this book, I ordered an extra copy to give away!

Congratulations, Jill, on your fabulous new book, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for including my work!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.
And good luck!

Looks like an awesome book. I have been collecting maps and just got the old roads maps my dad used when we went on vacations as kids. Also, my son's aviation maps. Now I can figure out what to do with them.
