I love making map art!
So I was thrilled to learn about Make Map Art: Creatively Illustrate Your World by Nate Padavick and Salli Swindell of They Draw & Travel!
I was even more delighted when I was sent a copy to review!
Make Map Art
This super fun map-making kit includes a 28-page instructional booklet with ideas for 18 creative map art projects, thirty sheets of illustrated templates containing cartouches, legends, and other decorative map icons, along with a huge poster-size world map to plot where you’ve been and where you want to go!

Project ideas range from maps celebrating your personal passions to mapping the passage of time to a map of your favorite city to a road map to happiness!
Make Map Art
I love that Making Map Art is an all-inclusive paperback portfolio containing instructions for map projects using the map templates and icon pages that are included!

Making Map Art will bring out the cartographer in all of us!
You'll be making frame-worthy map art before you know it!

Make Map Art: Creatively Illustrate Your World
created by Nate Padavick & Salli Swindell
published by Chronicle Books
available in many bookstores and on Amazon.com.

Happy Mapping!

I think it's so cool that people are now writing books about how to make map art! When I first started using maps in my mixed media work about 15 years ago, people seemed to view it as fairly odd. I'm glad to see map art finally coming into its own!
