October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month!

What I Learned from My Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in my face to be pure ecstasy.

When loved ones come home, I will always run to greet them.

Let others know when they have invaded your territory.

Take naps and stretch before rising.

Run, romp and play daily.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something I’m not.

If what I want lies buried, I will dig until I find it.

When someone is having a bad day, I will be silent, sit close by and nuzzle him gently.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often one is scolded, don’t buy into the guilt thing and pout, run back and make friends.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Have a great beginning to your week…and month!

Great list! I especially like the tip, "When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body." Not a bad idea for all of us who get good news. :)

Animals are simpler than people; it makes it easier to learn from them. We should be simpler, too.

LOVE this post! I didn't know it was Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month! It's also Eczema Awareness Month. =0) Thanks so much for sharing. I had a smile on my face while reading the whole thing.

Such wisdom in here, esp. the scolding part! And the nap and stretch before getting up. And if what I want is buried, I will dig for it. And- well- all of it!

I have always had dogs as part of my life with the exception of my college years. They provide great comfort (and occasional aggravation). Bruno looks like a super cutie. I've had labradors as "my" breed, but next time I'm going little. This guy would do the trick. Have a great day.

Cute! We can't have any animals where we live, but I hope somebody adopts them!
