It was another fun art-filled week!
Kirkwood Area Arts Council had a lovely art reception for my Art at the Station show Thursday evening.

I loved seeing and hearing the trains go by with my map paintings inside!

Then Saturday, I led the workshop Gelli Plate Party! – Part 1 at the Foundry Art Centre!
Participants came empty handed and left with lots of beautiful hand-painted papers!

I love how liberating and fun monotype printmaking is – a process that combines both painting and printmaking techniques. We used brayers, catalyst wedges, Gelli Plates and of course LOTS of StencilGirl stencils to create stacks of vivid prints! We printed on drawing paper, cardstock, scrapbook paper, newsprint, book pages, maps, tissue paper and even paper towels!

One of the participants created wonderful layers of marks and textures and patterns on a Chicago map!

Another participant created lovely prints with both complementary colors and warm colors, and has already created some really cool magnets from her prints! See these fun magnets and more of her amazing prints on her blog at Slow Down Sunday!

Looking forward to my next workshop at the Foundry on Saturday, October 19th!

Stay tuned – I'll announce the winner of all four of my new map stencils on Wednesday!

Have a great beginning to your week!

I am so interested in this technique. I belong to a small mixed media group and would love to try this out. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous papers! I've never gelli-printed something as large as that map but I'd love to give it a go :)

Oh my what a class you had! Look at that map- and then the prints. So wish I could have taken your class and played too- because there was some serious play happening! Thanks for sharing with the party!
