This Friday’s featured artist is Tom Rook and his hand-drawn aerial city maps!
I love the architecture and intrinsic detail of his maps, and the scale of his maps is mind-blowing!
Each map is like hundreds of works of art in itself!

He writes:
For most of my life I've been recording my memories, and the world around me, through drawings and maps.
I drew the first of these as a child in my Devon hometown, and now I've traveled and expanded this collection into Taiwan, where I now spend most of my time.
I've always been fascinated with illustrated maps, and feel they capture a place in a special way. I find the process totally absorbing, and moving into different landscapes and cities has intensified that.
Most of the maps…were drawn while living in or near the depicted area. I use them as both as a journal of the time spent in each place, and as a way of getting to know and understanding it.
