This Friday’s featured artist is Ted Ollier and his GPS Drawings!
During a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2010, Ted began drawing random walks across the landscape, using his hiking GPS to record his path. Below is one of his series of ten drawings from that residency:

Below, he traced out a random kilometer walk in 2013:
For the GPD drawing below, Ted used his bike!
He writes: "This time I traced—as near as I could—the boundaries of the City of Somerville on my bike....The magenta is the path I took on my bike. The white is the official boundaries of the city. Some of the discrepancies are due to fences, houses, construction, freeways, cliffs... and water."

Ted’s also created projects that involve the community – with the help of the children there!
For the work below, 15 children got a GPS from Ted at a local park and started running!
