This Friday’s featured artist is Sylvie van Helden.
I love her juxtaposition of maps, topographic surfaces and architecture!

Sylvie writes:
Recently, I’ve been thinking about the inevitability of change and the very human reaction to grasp for constancy. The art making process allows me a chance to pick and choose elements in the world that fascinate me, and recombine them in a way that gives me pleasure and a personal sense of control. Much of the aesthetic of my work stems from a sometimes obsessive attention to detail, the result of hours spent observing actual forms up close, and studying maps, diagrams, and images in print and online.
