Friday Favorite: Susan Stockwell

This Friday’s Feature artist is Susan Stockwell!
I love her map dress work!

From her Artist Statement 2010:
Susan Stockwell’s work takes many forms from small elaborate studies to large scale installations, sculpture, drawings and collage. It is concerned with issues of ecology, geo-politics, mapping, trade and global commerce. The materials used are the everyday, domestic and industrial disposable products that pervade our lives. These materials are manipulated and transformed into works of art that are extraordinary.

What an amazing way to use maps! This is fantastic. I love to use maps in my paintings and collages, but usually as a bottom layer.
Thank you for stopping by my blog to leave a comment!
Peace,
Karis

these are so beautiful...I can't imagine the effort and patience it took to construct them. Old maps say so much about our history and so does fashion, what a great way to tell that story. :)

Mary, These are exquisite! Such talent and creativity. I haven't spent much time on other blogs but I'm trying to make my rounds with my laptop tonight. Hope you're enjoying BYW, I know I am. I signed up for another ecourse with KRR in January, it's a new one about soul business.
