Friday Favorite: Nancy Standlee

This Friday’s featured artist is Nancy Standlee!
I especially love her bird portraits: paper collage paintings with maps, hand painted papers, and vintage stamps!
Each piece contains such variety of color, texture and text – yet all the elements are wonderfully integrated and unified!

Nancy writes: The Happy Bird above has a 1953 Texas Map by Humble that came from my parents' estate and before GPS and Google maps. Daddy would drive and Mom would navigate to see her sister in Austin and I enjoyed seeing some hand written notations on the map.

See more of Nancy's artwork on her blog and Daily Paintworks.

And if you’re interested in learning Nancy’s technique for making torn paper collages, she has an online lesson of techniques here.

TGIF!
