If you're looking for my NEW stencils GIVEAWAY, please keep scrolling down!
This Friday’s featured artist is Lori Voderhorst and her series of paintings depicting places she’s been and things she’s collected in those places. The items she’s found at these places are pinned on the maps in the paintings.
I love the neutral palettes and narrative quality of these paintings and find this series to be poetic in the way she paints the ordinary into the extraordinary!.
I also wanted to share Lori's very special painting below entitled Transplant.
Lori writes: "This work features poppies from my grandmother's garden in New Jersey, where I grew up. The background is a vintage map of the West, where I migrated to; the map inset in the vessel is the area of New Jersey where I grew up. Poppy seeds from those same flowers surround the base of the vessel, scattering up into the place that I've made my home."
