This Friday’s featured artist is Jennifer Carland of Carland Cartography!
I love her contemporary and abstract interpretations of cityscapes and aerial views!

She writes:
I moved to Boston in 2010 after living several other places. Boston has many confusing intersections and interesting street layouts, so I was constantly lost. I had a map with me all the time just to find my way around.
My background is in the visual arts and I had an immediate visual attraction to the shapes and lines that make up Boston’s geography. I started to sketch the city as I navigated it as a way to remember where I was going.
By getting lost in the winding streets of Boston MA, I found the way to my current series of works – my maps.
