I love the way she used the off-cuts of the installation Bow River Topograph (2009) to create her Topopads(2010)!
My artistic practice revolves around three main fascinations: books, drawings, and place. My visual image for my practice is three hula hoopers standing in close proximity. The area described by their oscillating hoops is sometimes close to the body (i.e. the root fascination), sometimes far; sometimes it overlaps with the circles of the other hula hoopers' hoops, and sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps that only clarifies things for me, but what it means is than any given project probably touches on at least one of those areas, usually at least two at once, and it may range widely from the starting point while always staying in its orbit.
Recently I have been considering the possibilities of line, wilderness, the city, pages, paper, reading, objects and the experience of the world through the five senses, architecture, travel and what makes a location a
place, imagemaking, perception, multiplicity, labor, skill, and where I am right now, which happens to be Vancouver.
