Art Challenge: Stitching
Journal Prompt: "All that I'm after is life full of laughter."
I began by spreading Dylusions Acrylic Paint onto my art journal pages. It was fun incorporating my new stencil designs next: It’s A Small World Latitude and It’s A Small World Longitude to create the two globes. I stenciled these on underpaper with more acrylic, cut and collaged them onto the journal pages, then traced around them with my black Stabilo. I added some lettering and arrows from Carolyn Dube's Are We There Yet Stencil. A Fiskars Airplane Squeeze Punch cut airplane shapes from vintage atlas pages. I used my Xyron® 150 to make these planes into stickers to put on the pages. To balance out the composition, I incorporated a few Simple Stories DIY Burlap star stickers I'd painted with acrylic and rows of vintage map star stickers.
Inspired by the challenge, I adhered Airmail Bakers Twine to my pages with gel medium to replicate stitching (and the path of one of the planes).
And inspired by the journal prompt, I wrote: “All that I’m after is a life full of laughter” over and over again with my white pen along the bakers twine.
This has been my first year participating in The Original Documented Life Project™, and it has brought me such great joy!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
I hope you're having a wonderful week!
