Today I'm sharing what I created for week fourteen of
The Original Documented Life Project™ The Journal!

April’s Theme
Color Safari (Exploring Inks and Paints)

April 4 Challenge & Prompt

Art Challenge:
Watercolors
Journal Prompt:
It's Water Under the Bridge
The Documented Life Project
This was one of my fastest journal pages to create! I began by adhering a large piece of underpaper onto the page with Traci Bautista’s matte Collage Pauge. This underpaper was just newsprint from my work table – I’d tested some ultra-matte varnish and a new hand-carved stamp on it. I also wiped off paint brushes and my fingers on this so as not to waste any materials that remained on my tools. I loved the way the arrows appeared to be projecting forward in a sky wisped with clouds!

Once the Collage Pauge dried completely, I added a layer of gesso around the underpaper. When the gesso dried, I added QoR watercolors in Quinacridone Magenta and Hansa Yellow Medium, then some acrylics, too. I had fun layering the watercolors and acrylics back and forth! Inspired by the art journal prompt, I scribbled in lyrics to Van Morrison’s song Don’t Look Back.

Lastly, I used a palette knife and spread Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste through Lesley Riley’s Night Sky StencilGirl stencil to add stars.
The Documented Life Project
All of the stars are above and in the path of the arrows – not behind the arrows – reminding me to look forward to goals and dreams and not look back at water under the bridge.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Great idea, Mary. The stars look great with dimension. Thanks for choosing my stencil.
