If not for the St. Louis edition, we would have had no idea that there were petroglyphs so close by!

Saturday, Dan and I drove south to Washington State Park, where two-thirds of Missouri’s known petroglyphs are carved. We hiked the 7-mile Rockywood Trail, what Steve Henry describes as “the wildest hike in the park.” For four amazing hours, we experienced nature, art, and solitude. We hiked through what was once the CCC camp to the park’s largest petroglyph display. The entire trail was clearly marked, and didactic signs explained possible meanings of the petroglyphs. Dan and I are big fans of the 60 Hikes in 60 Miles series.
If not for the St. Louis edition, we would have had no idea that there were petroglyphs so close by! Safe travels, Mary
