Wanted to share more of my inspiration with you today!
Two years ago, I was fortunate enough to have been awarded an artist residency on the Big Island of Hawaii – where one has the unique and rare opportunity to literally witness geologic changes in an instant.

During my time there, I experienced a wonderful balance of solitude and community.

Two other residing artists and I visited Kula Kai Caverns
, part of the Kanohina Lava Tube system consisting of more than 20 miles of braided passage!  Together with our guide, we embarked on a geological journey through this subterranean environment.  Equipped with helmets, lights, kneepads and gloves, we hiked and crawled for 3 hours!

While studio time is imperative for artists, so are the life experiences outside of the studio that inspire and shape one’s work.
