I feel so lucky to have spent two days this past week with this amazing group of creative and inspiring women!
Gwen Lafleur workshop at Mary Beth Shaw's studio
Gwen Lafleur taught her workshop entitled All Mixed Up: Stencil and Stamp, Collage and Create!
And it was in the intimate setting of Mary Beth Shaw’s studio!

With just 12 other workshop participants, we spent two days exploring Gwen's favorite techniques for creating richly layered art journal pages and canvases!

Gwen demonstrated techniques for carving stamps, which we then used to make our own collage material, and she shared ways to build and incorporate layers and textures to create backgrounds. Throughout the two days, Gwen also talked about the design principles that she uses most frequently and how she incorporates these into her own artwork.

In addition, we created collaged shapes (where Gwen revealed the secrets behind her floral mixed media paintings and infamous boho fish, and how to apply them to any shape!) and incorporated alternative materials like fabric, sequins, and metal to add layers and dimension. We tried lots of ideas and techniques in both our art journals and canvases!

I definitely took home not only lots of inspiration from Gwen, but also more wonderful memories!
It was so great to see friends like Peg Robinson and Patty Donahue again...

I also saw my sweet friends Jan Graham and Cathe Costelle again and met Jill McDowell and Rachel Bell!
Kandi Kwirant, one of my workshop table-mates, kept me laughing, too! All such wonderful and creative women!

How lucky I feel to work and create with some of the most talented, inspiring and kind people on this planet like Gwen Lafleur and Mary Beth Shaw at StencilGirl® Products!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

I hope you're having a fun and creative week, too!

So fun to read your account of the weekend Mary! I had such a great time - everyone was wonderful and it was great to see familiar faces and meet some new friends (some brand new, some just new for the first time in person!) I hope we get to do it again soon!
