I want to thank my friend Kimberly Jones for suggesting I write a blog post about preparing for an exhibition.
There are lots and lots of details along the journey to exhibiting one’s work…including painting, painting, painting. Remember, it always starts with the art-making.
But there are also details like sending jpeg images to the gallery for postcards and posters, coming up with a
title for the exhibition, and submitting an abbreviated artist statement and bio for publicity purposes, etc.
Also, I usually don’t apply to a space without seeing it first, but sometimes there are exceptions.
Personally, I like to work my way backwards from the show opening itself.
Here are the 10 steps I take…
