Mary C. Nasser & Harry Weber
Bruno and I meeting Harry Weber!
It’s been another wonderful, art-filled week!

Recently, I was asked by the Animal Protective Association of Missouri to participate in an exciting public art project entitled Harry & Hanley! This public art project will celebrate the 90th year of the APA of Missouri bringing people and animals together and also raise awareness about animal adoption options and animal welfare.

Measuring 4-feet tall, 10 dogs (Hanley) and 10 cats (Harry) will be designed by artists and on display throughout the St. Louis area in 2013!

A week ago Saturday, I had the opportunity to meet sculptor Harry Weber who created the dog and cat sculptures! He was at the APA of Missouri’s annual Canine Carnival for the unveiling of the dog and cat sculptures. I asked if I may have my photo with him, and he insisted that Bruno be in the picture, too! (My nephew used face-paint to draw the dog paw on my cheek!)

Harry Weber's bronze sculptures are in the permanent collections of the National Dog Museum and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
10 of his sculptures are displayed at the St. Louis Cardinals’ new Busch Stadium, too! Go, Cards!

Then Friday, the APA of Missouri delivered my dog sculpture to my home to design. After about 2-minutes crouching in guard-dog-mode, Bruno adjusted just fine to having this new huge dog share our home.

I’m so honored to be a part of this awesome project! I will keep you posted on my progress and the launch of this in the Spring!

Art-lovers looked for answers to clues to win $200 in gift certificates! Vesna Delevska painted live.
I was one of several artists who demoed their work. I had fun giving a demo on making collage cards to promote my upcoming workshop Original Holiday Card Fun! Heather Haymart gave away gift certificates!

And I haven't even mentioned the Inspiration Studio workshop I took on Saturday! Whew!
I'll save that for Wednesday's post!

Hope you’re having a great beginning to your week!
Mary^

Hi Mary!

I love your blog and this post - such a great idea! I support anything that has to do with animals and especially anything that has to do with adoption organizations, etc. Our beloved kitties are both adoptions from a shelter and I am so grateful to all the organizations that brought us all together! :-) I can't wait to see what you do with that sculpture!

What a fun project to get involved with! It will be fun to see how yours turns out! I'm an avid believer in shelter animals. I volunteer at our city shelter photographing the dogs for the website and Facebook page. I fall in love with a new dog every week. Here's my shelter dog set on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kellynwarren/sets/72157630321367050/
