My new painting this week is entitled The Climb.
My painting layers a Hawaiian map, encaustic (wax), mica, text, olivine, Wood Icing and acrylic on a small stretched canvas._

It’s also time to check in on my lofty goal I set in May of making 1 painting a week for the rest of the year…
This is the 35th week, and I have 34 new paintings and 1 WIP to show for it!
What I have discovered these past 35 weeks is that deadlines make all the difference.

Below are images of some of the new paintings I created in 2011.
(I added confetti and candles to celebrate!)

Happy New Year!

It's nice to see several of your pieces in one spot. They are really spectacular.

In 2011, I committed to a daily journal drawing. Some weeks were really hard! I think I'll back off and in 2012 commit to one painting per week. I think that is a good goal.

Are you still going to commit to 1 painting per week in 2012? I've really enjoyed looking at this series of paintings.

Thank you, Sue.
How wonderful that you committed to a daily journal drawing in 2011. I can imagine that some weeks were hard!
Excellent to hear that you are committing to one painting per week in 2012! Hooray!

I have thought about it, and am going to commit to 1 painting a week in 2012. Thank you for asking, Sue!
I have really enjoyed having that goal each week, along with the deadline, and have so appreciated the positive and supportive comments from readers like you!

Your paitings are so inspiring. And it is nice to see them all together and see the continuity like that. I agree that deadlines are valuable, especially for those of us who have primarily been in the '9-5 work force' forever. Deadlines are how we determine if we are successful or valuable. The other idea is intention. Less demanding than deadline but equally as powerful. Good luck in 2012.

Thank you, Deb. You are so right, that for those of us with full-time jobs, deadlines can be the determining factor for success. And your insight about intention is just as important. Good luck to you in 2012, too!
